The American Bobtail is a naturally occurring short-tailed cat, twany, of medium to large size, with a shaggy, semi-longhair coat. It should muscular with a solid build, without being overly fat. The tail is short and should stand erect when the cat is alert. The look is deceiving because it has a good temperament, though the cat may be initially reserved with strangers. Males are larger than females, and have characteristics such as jowls. The coat color may vary with seasons. This cat should be a cat with a wild look, but not a wild temperament. This breed is accepted by TICA and CFA.
